MICHAEL JACKSON: THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK GOES PAPERBACK

Pop Star’s Death Revives Interest in Tell-All Book

New York, NY — As the entertainment community and the rest of the world move past their shock over the sudden death of “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, their grief has turned to enquiry about the singer’s secretive lifestyle and controversial public persona. How much of his behavior was just for show? How much of his reputation was a calculated media campaign aimed at tarnishing the superstar’s image? Was MJ mentally unbalanced? Was he a pedophile?

Publisher SelectBooks, Inc. and author Stacy Brown , who first published Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask in 2005, now fin d themselves at the center of a media maelstrom concerning the details of their biographical exposé. To meet the current demand for information about the Michael Jackson story, SelectBooks has released a paperback edition of Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask (ISBN: 978-1-59079-203-2), now available in bookstores.

Stacy Brown is a prize-winning journalist, author, and acknowledged Jackson family “insider.” In the past few weeks he has spent his time appearing on radio, television, and in print, as he sifts the facts from the fiction about Michael Jackson. Virtually every major news and information outlet in the United States and the UK has requested information about his personal knowledge of Jackson and the material in his book.

Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask was co-authored with Mr. Brown by the late Bob Jones. Jones was Jackson ’s PR agent and closest confidant for over 34 years, dating back to their Motown days with the Jackson 5. That friendship ended abruptly when Jackson arbitrarily fired Jones. Bob Jones, a major figure in the public relations and recording industry world, claims in the book that his sudden dismissal came as no real surprise to him. By his account, this otherwise indecipherable action was yet another instance of his employer’s increasingly erratic behavior and disconnection from the world at large.

Bob Jones did not live to witness Jackson ’s tragic end. He died in September 2008 at age 72. With both Jones and Jackson now gone, the responsibility of accounting for what is said and unsaid in this controversial book rests squarely on the shoulders of co-author Stacy Brown . Mr. Brown continues to be a highly sought-after expert on all things concerning Jackson , both good and bad. Recently The New York Times highlighted his insights on Jackson ’s health and medical history, and in an interview with ABC News he was asked questions about the knotty issue of the pop star’s racial identity.
